Aside from the ending being a bit cheesy in parts and the author pulling a shipping change that I would never find plausible (not revealed until the very end), the overall story is a lot of fun and one of the better Shinji/Rei fics I've come across.

This and Shinji And Warhammer 40 K are my two favorite Evangelion fanfics ever, for staying as true to the source as much as possible. Also, a hilarious musical number, everyone staying in character as much as possible, and some of the best dramatic-but-not-overblown, romantic-but-not-explicit, comedic-but-not-satirical scenes ever done.
FanficRecs Mandatory for Shinji/Rei shippers
This is one of the first fanfics I've ever read, and it is still one of my favorites. its well written, not diverging from the canon abruptly, staying in character as much as possible. One of the best Shinji/Rei fics and also the first glimpse of Asuka/Touji, a very uncommon pairing (unfortunately).
